"This mysterious halo cloud has been spotted over Mexico - sparking fears of an Independence Day style alien attack."
"...video of it was posted on the internet - prompting speculation it's cause was extra-terrestrial." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2863260/Halo-II-Mystery-UFO-cloud-returns-to-skies-over-Mexico.html#ixzz0gMp3b2hM I'm not sure what this is but you have to see the pictures. It's really amazing! I can't post them due to copyright but above is the web address for the page. |

Interesting to look at, but I don't think a "UFO" caused it, but you have to wonder if this has happened more than once and at different areas of the world, what's causing it? I do know that a lof of "sky mysteries" are top secret government projects as I used to work for McDonnell Douglas Astronautics before Boeing took over and there was a lot going on that people didn't know about - testing aircraft, etc.

This has happened in Russia and this is the second time in Mexico. I agree with you though that this is not caused by a UFO. At least I hope this isn't an "Independence Day alien attack"...it didn't work real well for us through most of the movie. :)

You started me wondering about whether this has happened before so I googled it. I found this little blurb on a blog. "Now, consider all that we have witnessed in our skies and in space over the last six months – UFO Halo clouds in Russia; Mexico and Romania; Norway spiral; Russian pyramid; Australian transforming spiraling radar symbols; Newfoundland USO; record winter weather; Portugal’s pink blob; Italy’s floating spacecraft; Ireland’s triangular formation of lights; Bulgaria’s UFO pyramid; Haiti’s devastating earthquake and the countless other rattling around the globe; UFOs orbiting the Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn; double-ringed Coronal Mass Ejection (CMEs) from the Sun; Trident-shaped X-Pattern object captured by NASA’s Hubble Telescope; UFO or Asteroid over North Dublin, Ireland; the Gulf of Aden stargate and the rumored arrival of interdimensional beings; HAARP’s worldwide experiments;…" I haven't heard of some of this and I don't know what this means but I thought it might be interesting. :) |

The Worm: Strange clouds hover like a mothership What does everyone think of this explanation? By Michelle McNiel World staff writer Monday, March 15, 2010 photo Photo provided “Hole punch” cloud photograph taken by Howard Lowell, looking southeast from Wenatchee and posted on the Web site of the National Weather Service in Spokane. Cloud creations: Late last month, an unusual cloud formation south of Wenatchee caught the attention of Wenatchee Valley resident Howard Lowell. He took some pictures and sent then off to the National Weather Service, which posted them on the agency’s Web site. What appears to be holes or large openings in the cloud cover were an unusual phenomenon unofficially called “hole punch clouds.” (Google it. There lots of interesting information and pictures online about them.) According to the weather service, the exact cause of the cloud formations is not known. But the theory is that descending air or airplanes traveling through the clouds disrupt the cloud cover. They occur in clouds that are composed of both ice crystals and super-cooled water droplets — water that is below freezing temperature but still in liquid form. Only slight disruptions in the clouds can create a void that gives the striking appearance of a hole in the clouds. The two hole-punch clouds that could be seen south of Wenatchee on Feb. 28 also were picked up on satellite images from space, according to the weather service. Last October, a large hole-punch cloud formed over Moscow, Idaho, inciting widespread rumors of UFO sightings. The British tabloid The Sun reported that a “Mystery UFO Halo” had formed over the Idaho city. This week’s Worm was compiled by reporter Michelle McNiel. Have a tip?
